Businessman shuts his shop over coronavirus fears
A businessman who runs a bait shop in Pensarn has chosen to shut his shop to avoid face-to-face contact with customers as the coronavirus threat continues.
Ian Flannery will continue to sell his bait online but doesn't want to deal with members of the public as the virus continues to spread. This comes as two more cases of the virus were confirmed in Wales bringing the total number to six.
Mr Flannery believes people aren't taking the virus seriously.
"I have a few concerns with the coronavirus so I've decided to focus more on the digging of the bay on the beach. I feel safer on the beach."
"I was in the shop last week and a guy came in and he was telling me how he had double pneumonia and he was coughing all over the place. It did worry me and I thought what if it was something else and do I want to be putting myself in that position. "
"People need to be more aware and take it seriously. They need to be more vigilant on how they do things."
Public Health Wales have not issued any official advice to close shops but cases are continuing to grow across the country.
Some supermarkets haveissued rations on some products like hand wash and pasta in a bid to stop shoppers from stockpiling.
The UK Government’s chief scientific adviser, Sir Patrick Vallance, said there is “absolutely no reason” for the British public to panic buy.
