Landslips and fallen trees cause travel disruption after Storm Jorge

Flooding, landslips and fallen down trees caused by Storm Jorge, Dennis and Ciara have caused travel disruption across Wales.

This could continue into next week as a yellow weather warning for ice has been issued for parts of north Wales from midnight on Sunday until 10am Monday morning.

Currently there is no railway service operating on the Aberdare line, north of Pontpridd due to a landslip near Mountain Ash. The line is expected to remain closed until at least Wednesday 4.

The line between Llandudno Junction to Blaenau Ffestiniog also remains closed following damage caused by Storm Ciara but replacement buses are in service.

Transport for Wales Rail Services said their frontline teams have been working around the clock to re-open lines affected.

Whilst the situation is improving, customers are still advised to check before they travel and allow extra time for their journeys on Sunday 1 and Monday 2.

Not only are railways affected but many roads have been blocked by flooding and fallen trees.

In Anglesey, one driver had a lucky escape after a tree fell on a car during the storm.

The A545 Menai Bridge to Beaumaris was closed for a period to clear away the damage.

Conditions on the roads vary throughout the country so it is important to check before you travel.

A low risk of flooding in parts of Monmouthshire and Powys will remain a threat on Monday 2 and Tuesday 3.
