Barry Island's beach huts could become wedding venue
The brightly coloured Beach Huts on Barry Island could soon be available for weddings and civil ceremonies.
The Vale of Glamorgan Council said it is looking at the possibility of opening the huts couples to hire for their special day.
The council said it was considering licensing some of the beach huts for weddings and civil ceremonies and has asked on social media what people think of the idea.
The replies were on the whole positive with a few people worried about the privatising of a public space and potentially having to go past wedding guests if using the public path.
Some also asked about the possibility of the huts being opened up to traders or pop-up food vendors rather than being used for weddings.
Louis Ross, the founder of the Barrybados brand and owner of the Island's The Beach shop, believes the idea could work but is concerned about the unpredictable nature of the Island.
