Night shelters opened across Wrexham to help the homeless during cold weather

Night shelters in Wrexham have been opened for those sleeping rough in the town.

The project is run by Housing Justice Cymru and supported by the Diocese of St Asaph, and is run by more than 100 volunteers.

Based in seven church buildings in the town, it can accommodate up to ten men and women.

Project co-ordinator, Sarah Wheat said it will be open until March to help rough sleepers during the cold weather.

Guests are picked up each night by bus from a central location to the shelter, where they are provided with a two-course hot meal. The following morning, after a cooked breakfast, guests are provided with a packed lunch and returned by bus to the centre of Wrexham.

This is the third year that Housing Justice Cymru has opened a night shelter in Wrexham. The venues are provided by different Christian denominations across the town and attract volunteers of all faith backgrounds.
