Gavin and Stacey clapperboard set to raise thousands for Tŷ Hafan children's hospice

A signed clapperboard used to film the Gavin and Stacey Christmas special is set to raise thousands of pounds for Tŷ Hafan children's hospice.

The clapperboard was donated by Welsh actress and co-creator Ruth Jones and is being auctioned on eBay.

Bids have reached more than £8000 on the item, which is signed by the whole cast including James Corden and Rob Brydon.

Bidding closes just after 8am on New Year's Eve.

74 bids have been put on the item so far, starting at £99.

Ruth Jones is helping Tŷ Hafan raise £1.5million for much-needed refurbishments.

"There is a very special opportunity for you to win a little bit of memorabilia from the Gavin and Stacey special.

“It's a very rare thing and we are going to put it on eBay and auction it in aid of Tŷ Hafan, which is the most incredible place."

Lauren Sadler, senior fundraising executive at Tŷ Hafan, said: “We’re so thrilled that the clapperboard has attracted so many high bidders.

"We listed the item with a starting price of £99 and within just a few days, bids are over £8,100.

“This amount of money will make such a huge difference to the life-limited children and families cared for at Tŷ Hafan.

"The proceeds from the auction will be going towards our ‘Fit For Future’ appeal to refurbish the hospice in 2020 to future proof the building and ensure Tŷ Hafan is ready for the next generation of children who need us.”
