Transport Minister Ken Skates investigated over bus funding in own constituency

The First Minister has confirmed that Ken Skates, the transport minister for Wales, is being investigated over funding for bus services in his constituency.

Mark Drakeford said during First Minister's Questions that the matter had been referred to him under the ministerial code.

The issue was raised during First Minister's Questions

Plaid Cymru's spokesperson Rhun Ap Iorwerth AM said, "with funds so scarce for improving bus services... it was a huge disappointment when it became clear that the transport minister had personally intervened to ensure funding for the bus services in his own constituency."

He added, "Can the First Minister tell us whether he has completed that inquiry and what his conclusions were?"

"If not when will that work be done because people need to know there is full transparency in the way funds are spent on bus services and that those funds are spent fairly and are equitable in all parts of Wales."

Mark Drakeford responded by saying,"I will conclude my investigation in the normal way and the member would be better off waiting to see the results of that".
