Man 'violently' kicking police officer in the stomach caught on camera

Police have released a photo of a man "violently" kicking a police officer in the stomach.

North Wales Police South Flintshire said officers are regularly subjected to assaults for "doing our job".

In a statement, NWP South Flintshire said: "This photo shows the moment a suspect violently kicks a police officer to the stomach.

"This is the type of thing we're subjected to regularly for no reason other than doing our job."

The man was arrested on suspicion of burglary offences and assaulting an emergency service worker.

Inspector Steve Owens said: "Assaults on officers whilst carrying out their lawful duties are never acceptable.

"An assault of any kind should never be considered 'part of the job' and offenders need to understand that such behaviour will not be tolerated by North Wales Police."

In September last year, a new law was introduced increasing the maximum sentence for offenders from six months to a year.
