From Carmarthen to Tokyo: Brothers Jonathan and James Davies to start for Wales against Fiji

Brothers Jonathan and James Davies will start together for Wales against Fiji on Wednesday.

The pair are in the starting line-up for a game that will see Wales reach the quarter-finals if they win.

It will be back-row forward James' World Cup debut, replacing Justin Tipuric.

The Davies brothers are Wales' first set of siblings to feature in a World Cup game together since Scott and Craig Quinnell 20 years ago.

When asked how they feel about facing Fiji, James said they have a plan that should see them triumphant.

Sons of pub owners in Carmarthenshire, the boys have represented Wales on the international rugby stage before but on Wednesday, they will do so in a World Cup match together.

If Wales win the clash with Fiji it will be their third successive World Cup win over the team.

James said he was initially shocked to get the call that he would be starting for Wales but he is confident in his ability.

His brother, nicknamed "Fox", has stayed in the starting line-up after Wales' win over Australia.

Jon says he is not worried about sharing the pitch with his brother because he is "there because he's good enough...You're here because you're good enough and you know what you need to do and that's from 1-31."

The pair are no strangers to sharing the rugby pitch as teammates for The Scarlets at home, but in Tokyo they even had to share a bedroom.

At the presser on Monday, both agreed that their parents are very proud of them.

The brothers' parents will be in Japan to see both their sons play.

James was also asked about his response to hearing the news he would be in the starting line-up.

Warren Gatland reported James had said Gatland had "seen the light" by deciding to include him.

Amidst laughs, James said "it was a bit tongue and cheek" and actually he "was a little bit shocked to get the call".
