Strong winds cause main carriageway on Severn Bridge to close in both directions

The main carriageway on the M48 Severn Bridge is closed in both directions at J1 B4461 (Aust) because of strong winds.

The traffic is currently all coming off, around the roundabout and then back on to the motorway to cross the bridge. This is in case the bridge needs to be closed quickly if the cross winds get worse.

Heavy rain is expected over parts of Wales tonight and into Sunday with flooding in places.

The Met Office has warned a few homes and businesses may be flooded as well as flooding on roads, which will make journey times longer.

It said bus and train services are likely to be affected. There may also be some interruption to power supplies and other services.
