Six years for man with £100k of cocaine stashed in secret car compartment

A man caught ferrying £100,000 worth of cocaine in a hidden compartment of his car has been sentenced to six years in prison.

Lee Joseph Hutchinson from Liverpool admitted to being involved in the supply of a kilo of cocaine into North Wales.

He had previously been charged with conspiring to supply the class A drug in Wrexham, London and Surrey.

Mold Crown Court heard how the cocaine found in the hidden compartment was of a particularly high purity.

Judge Rhys Rowlands said that while on a suspended sentence he reverted to involvement with drugs on a significant scale.

The VX Passat was stopped by police on the A483 and police found the secret compartment between the back of a passenger seat and the boot space.

Judge Rowlands praised the "excellent police work" in bring Hutchinson to justice.
