Two men charged after 750kg of cocaine seized from yacht in Fishguard

Two men have charged with conspiracy to import cocaine after approximately 750kg of the drug was seized from a yacht in Fishguard.

Gary Swift, 53, and Scott Kilgour, 41, from Liverpool, were arrested on Tuesday 27 August on board the yacht.

Both men appeared at Haverford West Magistrates’ Court on Thursday 29 and were remanded in custody to appear at Swansea Crown Court on Friday the 27 September.

An investigation by the National Crime Agency (NCA) had identified the yacht as carrying a large drugs shipment to the UK from South America.

Officers boarded the boat approximately half a mile off the Welsh coast on Tuesday.

The NCA confirmed around 750kgs of cocaine was recovered from the boat - thought to have a street value of £60m.

It is thought to be one of the largest cocaine hauls in recent UK history.
