Villagers mourn loss of local collie dog with plaque and shrine

The community of a village in Ammanford is mourning the loss of a local dog, Coley the collie.

For over a decade Coley was a familiar sight for commuters and locals in Penybanc, always sitting next to his beloved bench.

Last month, Coley passed away and villagers have since paid tribute to him with a special plaque in his favourite spot.

Coley's owners said his dog would want to sit by the bench come rain or shine.

Coley loved to sit with his owner next to the bench.

They said he was a character from the very beginning - naming him after his mischievous ways.

For those living in the community Coley was a "legend" and a landmark for those visiting and passing through the village.

Locals said Coley made everyone smile.

It seems no matter where you go in Penybanc people have fond memories of Coley.

Many said how much happiness he brought within the village.

It has now been five weeks since Coley has passed away and flowers continue to be left by his much loved bench.

Coley's owners hope to raise funds for a more permanent plaque and to help spruce up Coley's favourite bench.

They hope that way, Coley's legacy will never be forgotten.
