Unconscious camper rescued from 3000ft Snowdonia peak on a stretcher

A six-hour rescue operation took place on a 3,000ft Snowdonia peak on Thursday night after a man was found unconscious in his tent.

A party of rescuers from Aberdyfi Search and Rescue Team attended the scene on Cader Idris, near Dolgellau.

Low cloud meant a coastguard rescue helicopter was unable to reach the man, who is in his 50s and from the Manchester area.

Instead he was carried down a long and difficult route, known as the Minffordd steps, by stretcher.

The man was taken by ambulance crew to Bronglais Hospital.
