Officer at Gwent Police suspended following sexual assault allegation
An officer at Gwent Police has been suspended following allegations of sexual assault made against them.
In a statement, Gwent Police said an internal investigation was running alongside a criminal investigation.
"There is currently an ongoing criminal investigation, being conducted by Gwent Police, into an allegation of sexual assault in the Cardiff area on Sunday 11th August."
"A male officer of PC rank, who works in the Newport area, has been suspended and enquiries are ongoing."
A spokeswoman for the force said nobody had been arrested or charged.
Gwent Police also suspended two police officers earlier this month following allegations of a criminal offence and misconduct.
The case has been referred to the Independent Office for Police Conduct and Avon and Somerset Police have confirmed they're investigating.
