Heat and humidity on the way as temperatures expected to reach 31C in Wales

Temperatures are expected to reach 31C in parts of Wales on Tuesday as a heatwave is predicted in parts of the UK.

Cloud will clear through the morning, which will be followed by a dry, sunny and hot day with plenty of strong sunshine.

The maximum temperature recorded in July is 36.7C (98F), on the first day of the month in 2015 at Heathrow.

Looking ahead to next weekend, the Met Office expects temperatures to fall.

It has warned that the sweltering spell could bring some disruption from heavy thundery downpours from Wednesday onwards.
