Over the years the men and women who lived through the Second World War have told their stories to ITV Wales cameras.

Now 75 years on from D-Day, we tell the story of the battle of Normandy in the veterans’ own words.

Former Welch Regiment soldiers describe their battles in France and in the city of ‘s-Hertogenbosch in the Netherlands, where Welsh soldiers are still celebrated today.

Maths expert Eileen Younghusband recalls watching D-Day unfold in the plotting room, and remembers how she used maths to trace the launch sites of Hitler’s V-2 rocket.

Among the rarely-seen interviews is one with Sir Tasker Watkins, who won the VC in Normandy. He describes how it affected his life and former comrades pay tribute.

The series is especially poignant as many of those telling their stories are no longer with us. Wales at War pays tribute to their courage - and honours their memory.
