Real Madrid fans' treatment of Bale unfair says Wales Manager Ryan Giggs
Wales manager Ryan Giggs has rubbished claims that Gareth Bale has fallen out of love with football.
It has been a tricky season for the Wales forward at Real Madrid.
He was dropped from the starting XI and manager Zinedine Zidane refused to bring him off the bench for the final league game.
Real Madrid fans have also turned on Bale with some accusing him of being more interested in playing golf than football.
Only 9% of them saying they would like him to stay at the club in a recent poll.
But back home in Wales, 29-year-old Bale remains a key player for his national team heading into Euro 2020 qualifiers against Croatia and Hungary.
And manager Giggs maintains that Bale has been looking good in training at the Portugal camp despite the reports from Spain.
Bale joined Real from Tottenham in 2013 for what was then a world-record fee of £85.3million.
Since joining he has scored more than 100 goals and helped the team to multiple trophies including four Champion's League titles.
But this season he has only managed 14 goals and has not scored since March.
He has completed 90 minutes only twice since Wales started their Euro 2020 qualifying campaign with a 1-0 home victory over Slovakia on March 24.
With two games in three days, Bale's fitness will be tested but Giggs insists he is not worried.
Bale is contracted to stay at Real Madrid until 2022 but his future at the club remains uncertain, with the Spanish giants reportedly keen to get him off the wage bill this summer.
Giggs said he was surprised at the criticism Bale is receiving in Spain.
