Police broaden investigation into death of 13-year-old Carson Price to focus on 'illegal drugs' in Caerphilly area

Gwent Police has broadened its investigation into "illegal drugs" as a contributing factor in the death of 13-year-old Carson Price in Ystrad Mynach Park on Friday.

There is not yet an official medical confirmation of how Carson, from nearby village Hengoed, died.

The Police say their investigation has now broadened out from Ystrad Mynach itself to the whole Caerphilly Borough area.

The 13-year-old died after being found unconscious in a park in Ystrad Mynach, near Caerphilly.

On Monday afternoon, Gwent Police Superintendent Nick McLain released a statement saying "I believe, somebody, somewhere, sold illegal drugs to Carson".

In a statement issued by his family, the 13-year-old was described as "bright and caring, kind and loving".

Detective Chief Inspector Sam Payne said Gwent Police is awaiting "official medical confirmation of the cause of death".

Gwent police said Carson Price was found at around 7.20pm on Friday 12 April in the park off Caerphilly Road.

He was taken to University Hospital of Wales in Cardiff where he was pronounced dead.

The boy's school, Lewis School Pengam, in nearby Bargoed said:

"Everyone in our school is shocked and devastated by the loss of one of our own".

His mother wrote on social media on Saturday, "I'm broken, my life is ovr. Please help find out who sold these drugs to my son. My life is ruined, my baby gone".
