Woman rescued from the River Ebbw in Risca

A woman has been rescued from the bank of a river in Ebbw Vale after being found hanging onto a tree.

South Wales Fire and Rescue service say the alarm was raised when residents heard shouting just after 9.30pm on Tuesday night.

Firefighters used specialist river rescue equipment to bring her to safety and she was treated by ambulance crews.
