Ospreys player and former Wales international James Hook secures world record for fastest rugby ball catch
Ospreys centre James Hook has secured the world record for the fastest rugby ball catch.
The former Wales International and British and Irish Lion caught the rugby ball after it was fired out of a machine at 63mph at the Arms Park pitch in Cardiff city centre.
Hook posted a picture and a video to his Instagram page to confirm that he had broken the world record for the fastest rugby ball catch and that he had received a certificate from Guinness World Records.
He said that it was not something that he expected to do in 2019.
A tweet posted by the organisation that monitors record breaking activity also suggested that Gareth “Alfie” Thomas had also taken part in the challenge but had just missed out on getting the record along with James Hook.
