Record-breaking weightlifter with cystic fibrosis announces impressive 2019 challenge
Wales' Pride of Britain ITV Fundraiser of the Year winner Josh Llewellyn-Jones has announced his 2019 challenge.
The athlete and motivational speaker will swim, cycle, and then run a total of 381 miles across five days in his "biggest challenge ever".
Born with cystic fibrosis, Josh was told by doctors he wouldn't live to see his thirties. But the 31-year-old has proved doctors wrong and now takes part in extreme endurance challenges to raise money for cystic fibrosis charities.
This year's challenge is nothing new to Josh, having successfully broken a world record when he lifted a million kilos in just 24 hours last year.
Starting on Monday 7 October, Josh will swim the 21 miles from Dover to Calais - in a target time of 16 hours. After a quick boat ride back to Dover, he'll then cycle 200 miles to Twickenham Stadium.
Then it's away with the wheels and onto two feet as Josh starts the 160 mile run back to Cardiff. He's hoping to complete that part in 52 hours.
If that wasn't enough, Josh is planning on taking on his 2019 challenge without any sleep over five days. He told ITV Wales:
"This is without question my biggest challenge ever. I’m aiming to do it without any sleep over 5 days which will be a real ordeal".
Ahead of the announcement, Josh said "I know my family may not want me to attempt" the 2019 challenge. But he added "I must live outside my comfort zone".
