Leigh Halfpenny looks set to miss the start of Wales' Six Nations campaign following the results of a medical assessment.

The Scarlets full-back has not played since suffering concussion during Wales' victory over Australia on November 10. Halfpenny went off late in the match after receiving a late challenge from Samu Kerevi. The Wallabies centre avoided any punishment for the tackle.

Now Scarlets head coach Wayne Pivac says Halfpenny "won't be used for the next three to five weeks" after seeing a specialist. Wales' opening Six Nations game is against France in Paris on February 1. Warren Gatland's men then take on Italy in Rome eight days later.

Halfpenny was selected to play for the Scarlets against Cardiff Blues 10 days ago, but withdrew after suffering headaches.

According to Pivac, the Gorseinon-born rugby star is continuing to train and "will be reassessed".
