Tonypandy man charged with murder of woman

A 51-year-old man from the Trealaw area of Tonypandy has been charged with the murder of a 46-year-old woman also from Trealaw.

Philip Andrews was arrested on Wednesday 19 December and taken to Merthyr Tydfil police station.

The woman who died has been named as Lana Jayne Owen. Her family say they are "devastated by the tragic loss".

Philip Andrews has been remanded in custody until his next court appearance in the new year. South Wales Police say they are not currently looking for anyone else in connection with this investigation.

The family of Lana Jayne Owen have asked for privacy at this time.
