Labour AM Jenny Rathbone suspended over Jewish community comments
Cardiff Central AM, Jenny Rathbone, has been suspended by the National Assembly’s Labour group for comments regarded as potentially anti-Semitic.
A spokesperson for the National Assembly Labour Group said Jenny Rathbone was today suspended "pending a decision by the UK Labour Party under its disciplinary procedures".
Earlier this month Ms Rathbone said she was "deeply sorry" for comments made about the Jewish community in a leaked recording.
In the recording, leaked to the Jewish Chronicle, she said: "The fact that the Jewish synagogue in Cyncoed is behind this fortress is really uncomfortable". She added "how much of it is for real and how much of it is in their own heads is really hard for an outsider to judge".
The AM made the comments at an event in November 2017 in response to a question about increased security at the Cardiff United Synagogue.
