45,000 fewer prescriptions were dispensed by GPs in Wales las year.

But the current reduction is less than the five per cent Wales needs to achieve in 2018-19 if it is to meet a Welsh Government target.

Public Health Wales says antibiotic resistance is one of the biggest threats facing us today. It says without effective antibiotics many routine treatments and common bacterial infections will become increasingly dangerous.
