Storm Helene and how it will affect Wales: What you need to know

Storm Helene will track its way across us overnight tonight, bringing with her some strong gusts of winds and heavy rain.

Helene (named by the National Hurricane Center in the United States of America) has been tracking her way across the Atlantic towards us.

Storm Helene is an ex-hurricane and tropical system, bringing with her tropical warmth and energy, meaning temperatures will be feeling on the milder side today and into tomorrow. This is due to Helene drawing up milder air from the mid-Atlantic.

The Met Office has issued a yellow 'be aware' weather warning for wind from 9pm this evening until 6pm tomorrow afternoon as it's possible that the strong gusts could cause some damage to trees and cause some travel disruption.

We could see winds overnight tonight reach 70mph in some exposed spots, with gusts of 40-50mph in-land.
