Seven Welsh streets shortlisted for Great British High Street Awards 2018
Seven streets in Wales have been shortlisted for cash prizes in this year's Great British High Street Awards.
Holywell in Flintshire, Carmarthen and both Welshpool and Crickhowell in Powys have been shortlisted for the Champion Award, which aims to find the UK's best high street.
Cardigan in Ceredigion, Narberth in Pembrokeshire and Cowbridge in Glamorgan have been shortlisted in the Rising Star category, which aims to find the UK's most ambitious high streets.
High Streets Minister Jake Berry MP has applauded the "outstanding" quality of this year's entries.
A combination of a public vote and an expert panel of judges will determine who wins the cash grants for high street projects at an awards ceremony in London on November 15.
This follows research by Visa, who sponsor the 2018 awards, which showed promising signs of renewed confidence in Welsh high streets despite a challenging retail environment.
The awards are run by the Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government
The prizes include £5,000 contributions towards a street party for Champion Award winners and a £5,000 grant towards a local community or technology project for Rising Star Award winners.
The Overall UK winner will receive a £10,000 grant for a local community project.
