Spikes installed on Aneurin Bevan statue to stop gull faeces
Spikes have been installed on the Aneurin Bevan statue in Cardiff to protect it from gull faeces.
The 15ft-high statue of the NHS founder on the Welsh capital's busiest shopping street has been bombarded by gulls.
The statue has been standing on Queen street for 30 years but gull faeces have caused damage to it over the years.
Last month, supporters launched a campaign to make the statue look 'more healthy' and cleaner.
Now Cardiff Council have installed the spikes in the hope of deterring the birds in order to protect it.
Cardiff Council say they will continue to monitor the situation.
