Glamorgan are set to sign Australian batsman Joe Burns as replacement for injured Shaun Marsh for the remainer of their T20 Blast campaign.

Burns is expected to complete a deal in time to join up with Robert Croft’s squad for Friday evening’s meeting with Somerset in Cardiff and will stay on for the remainder of the short-form season.

With two overseas players allowed in the competition Burns will join fellow Australian Usman Khawaja at Sophia Gardens, until Khawaja leaves to join up with Australia A.

28-year-old Burns has feature 55 times in international T20’s for his country, scoring 1199 runs at and average of 27.25 that has included 5 half-centuries.

The move will come as welcome news to Glamorgan supporters who were dealt a huge blow to their Finals Day hopes when Marsh was forced to end his season early after damaging his shoulder during Glamorgan's defeat to Sussex.

He’ll join a side riding high in the shortest format following two wins from their opening three games and who are targeting a return to Finals Day having reached the semi-finals in 2017.
