Events held across Wales to celebrate NHS anniversary
Celebrations are being held across Wales today to mark the 70th anniversary of the birth of the NHS.
The Prince of Wales visited staff and patients at Ysbyty Aneurin Bevan in Ebbw Vale.
The hospital is named after the Welsh founder of the NHS, Aneurin Bevan.
HRH Prince Charles attended a garden party and visited a number of stalls celebrating the history of the NHS.
First Minister Carwyn Jones and Health Secretary Vaughan Gething joined the celebrations.
Children from local schools that support the hospital were also there to meet the Prince.
The Prince unveiled a plaque and cut a birthday cake.
The Senedd has also hosted an event in Cardiff today to mark the creation of the NHS.
First Minister Carwyn Jones took to the stage and explained that he had the NHS to thank for his life.
Aneira Thomas, the first baby born in the NHS, was also at the Senedd.
She talked about the 'harrowing stories of suffering in the valleys' before the NHS and the legacy of Aneurin Bevan.
