Driver had 'a lucky escape' after getting caught in Afan Valley landslide
A driver had 'a lucky escape' after getting caught in a landslide in a village in the Afan Valley.
People living in Glyncorrwg were 'shocked' to wake up to the landslide around 6 o'clock this morning.
Councillor Nicola Davies said it is 'unbelievable' how lucky the driver was.
'I'm shocked to be honest, seeing a car stuck in the middle of a landslide. A tree had also come down. It had gone lengthways. He's lucky it's not worse.'
It came after a night of heavy rain, on land where trees have been chopped down in recent years.
'We did have heavy rain but nothing like we normally have. So it was quite a surprise to see the damage this morning.'
The driver of the car is said to be 'shaken up', but not injured. The road remains closed while a clear-up operation takes place.
