Coast & Country explores the mighty mountains of Wales

Wales, it's known for it's breathtaking scenery and on this week's episode of Coast & Country we are showcasing some of our stunning mountains from the peaks themselves to those who enjoy them.

Andrew is climbing the mighty Tryfan in the Ogwen Valley in Snowdonia.

Standing over 3,000 ft it's the 15th highest mountain in Wales, and legend has it once you reach the summit if you leap between the two stones, named Adam and Eve you gain the freedom of the mountain.

He is also out with the Western Beacons Mountain Rescue Team to see if he's got what it takes to be a mountain rescuer.

The team volunteers 365 days a year to rescue lost or injured walkers. This time Andrew plays the casualty in a training exercise, those drama skills have come in handy!

Ruth has been chatting to a remarkable 104 year-old who keeps himself young walking the hills near his home in Clydach Vale.

Trevor Ward says he's walked 'every blade of grass'. Trevor joins his 80 year-old friend Mervin for a walk and a gossip along the hills and he even fits in a bit of dancing and bingo!

Rob meets some magical animals who have stood the test of time: the Carneddau ponies. The breed has remained unchanged and has lived on the mountain for thousands of years.

Some who would not have survived in the wild are rescued to become therapy ponies due to their intuitive nature.

Coast & Country is on ITV Cymru Wales at 8pm tonight.
