Cardiff-based charity opens first 'ethical boutique shop' that includes its own 'fixing workshop'
Charity The SAFE Foundation based in Cardiff will be opening its first 'ethical boutique store' tomorrow which will include one of Wales' first 'fixing workshops'.
The charity, which mentors disadvantaged young people in the UK and gives the opportunities to work on projects overseas, says it plans to fight back against the ‘throw away culture’ which it says is having a 'devastating' impact on the environment.
Once the shop opens tomorrow, people are invited to bring their broken electrical goods, household items, tools and furniture to a monthly workshop to be shown how to fix them and avoid putting things into landfill.
Angela Bettany, Volunteer Coordinator “We are so excited for Charlotte Church, a close friend of The SAFE Foundation, to be coming to the grand opening of the shop!
The store will provide a sustainable income for the charity to continue helping disadvantaged communities in Wales and overseas.”
Donations of items are being called for along with volunteers to work at the superstore which will open to the public tomorrow.
