£28 million announced for West Wales hospitals
£28 million in funding has been announced for two hospitals in West Wales.
Glanwgili hospital in Carmarthen will receive £25m for neonatal services and Withybush in Haverfordwest will receive £3m for cancer services.
The future of hospital services in the Hywel Dda health board are still up in the air after plans were leaked earlier this year suggesting that hospitals could close.
Health Secretary, Vaughan Gething AM, will be in West Wales today to announce the funding. Mr Gething has said unpopular decisions may need to be made and he refused to bail out the health board's overspend.
The Welsh Conservatives say the announcement leaves the consultation in 'total confusion.'
