An 80-year-old man who waited nearly 30 hours for treatment has died

An 80-year-old man who waited nearly 30 hours to be treated at a hospital in Swansea has died.

An ambulance was called after John Williams hit his head last Tuesday.

His son, Darren Williams, said his father was on the kitchen floor for 11 hours after falling over and he did not have his medication for 36 hours.

John waited 23 hours for an ambulance and then spent a further seven hours stuck outside Morriston Hospital.

He died a few days later.

Darren said when his father was initially taken into hospital, staff wanted him to be released the same day.

Abertawe Bro Morgannwg University Health Board said their staff did all they could but Mr Williams died a few days later.

John Williams' wait happened on the same day that ambulance crews lost more than 100 hours sitting outside Morriston Hospital because of delays handing over patients.
