Beatrix Potter's much loved Peter Rabbit to appear on new 50p coins

One of literature's most loved and celebrated characters appear on new coins on sale from today.

Beatrix Potter's Peter Rabbit coin the first of the 50p pieces to go on sale.

Coins adorned with Flopsy Bunny, Mrs Tittlemouse, and a helpful mouse from The Tailor of Gloucester will also be released later this year.

The coins will only be in circulation for a limited period of time.

The designs will be added to the mint's Beatrix Potter collection which was launched in 2016 to commemorate 150 years since her birth.

Peter Rabbit coins can be bought on the Royal Mint's website and have been developed in collaboration with Frederick Warne & Co, Beatrix Potter's original publisher.
