ITV celebrates 60 years of broadcasting in Wales

Today marks 60 years since the launch of independent television in Wales.

The first ITV station for Wales and the West of England launched on January 14 1958.

Television Wales & West (TWW) as it was known then, broadcast from studios in Cardiff and Bristol.

It was succeeded in 1968 by Harlech Television (HTV).

The television studios were originally based in Pontcanna but were later moved to a large site at Culverhouse Cross on the edge of Cardiff.

Here, a range of programmes and shows were filmed, with Tom Jones appearing during the studio's opening show.

Andrea Byrne and Jonathan Hill are the current faces of Wales At Six.

In 2014, the studios were then relocated to Cardiff Bay to be in the heart of the city and the flagship news programme Wales At Six began airing in June.

In the lead up to the anniversary, ITV Cymru Wales caught up with some of the our best-known faces to look back on six decades worth of broadcasting.
