School says goodbye to the Lollipop Lady who's been keeping generations safe

A much-loved lollipop lady in Tredegar has been celebrating her last day after forty years in the job.

Abertysswg Primary School is closing its doors as pupils move to a newly-built school. But their lollipop lady won't be moving with them.

Eirwen Selkirk has been working there for decades and has crossed today's pupils, their parents and grandparents.

There's no zebra crossing on the street outside Abertysswg school, so Mrs Selkirk makes sure pupils cross in safety.

But after forty years, she's decided it's time to retire.

Pupils say Mrs Selkirk does more than help them cross the road. They say she's become a friend and someone they can talk to.
