Two killed in Old Colwyn crash

Two men have died following a crash between a car and a van in Old Colwyn yesterday evening.

It happened shortly after 6pm, North Wales Police received a report of a two-vehicle crash on the A547 Abergele Road between Old Colwyn and Llanddulas.

A black Ford Focus and a silver Vauxhall Vivaro van were involved.

Emergency services attended but sadly, the driver of the Ford Focus, from the Lancashire area, was pronounced dead at the scene. The passenger, from Llysfaen was taken to Ysbyty Glan Clwyd by ambulance, but later died.

The driver of the van was left with minor injuries.

Police are appealing for witnesses to the crash to come forward.

The families of both men are being supported by specialist Family Liaison Officers from both North Wales Police and Lancashire Constabulary.

The road was re-opened shortly after midnight.
