Cardiff to have 'Boris Bikes' from next year

The first so-called 'Boris bikes' are coming to Cardiff, just a few days after a similiar scheme was launched at the University Campus in Swansea.

The bikes will be able to be picked and dropped off at various docking stations, with the aim of reducing congestion on our roads.

The provider, nextbike, will manage 250 bikes across 25 docking stations in the city from May 2018.

In 2019, the number of bikes and stations will double – with 500 bikes and 50 stations in place around the city.

The company provides more than 120 schemes across four continents in the world.

In the UK, their first scheme was launched in Bath in 2014 and they now operate in Milton Keynes, Exeter, Belfast, Edinburgh and the University of Warwick.
