Two charged over Brecon Beacons soldier training deaths

Two men have been charged with negligence following the death of three soldiers on a 16-mile SAS recruitment exercise in the Brecon Beacons on the hottest day of 2013.

Lance Corporal Craig Roberts from Penrhyn Bay and Lance Corporal Edward Maher died during the march, and Corporal James Dunsby collapsed and died later.

A Service Prosecution Authority (SPA) spokesperson has confirmed that two soldiers involved at the time have been charged with negligence of duty.

The case will be heard in a military court and the charge carries a maximum sentence of two years.
