Coast and County celebrates the tastes of autumn!
Autumn is well underway now, and this week we're sampling the the food and drink that comes with the season! I start my journey perched on a hillside between Blackwood and Pontypool. I'm meeting the family who have turned their passion for cider into an award-winning business!
The family now make some 80 thousand litres of cider a year from apples picked from the orchards on their farm! Not bad considering it started off as a hobby 16 years ago! However, as lovely as their cider tastes, I can promise you the apples aren't necessarily good for eating
Hannah heads to Blaenau Gwent to meet a mum who makes award-winning Artisan Chutney. Anne Baker uses her own recipes and makes the chutneys in the comfort of her own home!
The ingredients Anne uses are all sourced locally, and Hannah heads to the Fruit and Veg Shop with Anne to stock up on supplies.
Andrew is in his element as he goes foraging for wild mushrooms. Mushroom expert Daniel Butler runs wild mushroom picking tours from his home near Rhayader.
It's essential that you only pick the right funghi as they can be poisonous. There are some truly weird and wonderful shapes and colours!
Our gardening vlogger Huw Richards is back with his hints and tips for getting your garden ready for next year as the long winter months approach.
Now is the time to be harvesting your root veg, and of course you can put those fallen autumn leaves to good use - either as compost or mulch. And Huw heads on a nighttime mission to rid his last of the season salads of slugs!
Plus, find out if your pictures have made it in to our autumn gallery! If you'd like to see your snaps featured then tweet them to me @ruthwignall .
That's Coast and Country, tonight at 8pm on ITV Cymru Wales.
