Woman assaulted while walking along cycle path
A woman was assaulted by a cyclist on a bike path while walking with a friend in New Tredegar.
Police said the incident happened at around 1pm on Sunday, October 8 on a cycle track near Bedwellty Road in New Tredegar.
The pair were walking along the cycle path when they were approached from behind by a man on a bike.
One woman was assaulted before she screamed and he ran off with his bike.
Detective Inspector Michelle Chaplin said: “These two ladies are safe and being supported by officers but are understandably shaken by this incident."
Anyone with information is asked to 101.
Police have offered the following advice:
Try to avoid walking in isolated areas on your own, stick to main roads and paths.
Try to carry a mobile phone with you and check it has charge before you leave the house.
If someone is following you or you feel intimidated, shout for help and make your way to a busy area or shop.
If you see someone suspicious hanging around the local area, please call 101 to report it, giving as full a description as possible including any clothing or vehicles involved. In an emergency, always call 999.
