Welsh star would love to land James Bond role

Kingsman: The Golden Circle star Taron Egerton said it would be "amazing" to play James Bond, if he was asked.

The Welsh actor, 27, joined stars including Halle Berry, Sir Elton John, Jeff Bridges and Julianne Moore in London's Leicester Square for the film's world premiere.

Speaking on the orange carpet, Egerton said reviving the role of unlikely spy hero Eggsy was a "nice alternative" to the suave and sophisticated Bond, but hinted he would consider switching if the opportunity arose.

Asked if he would like to throw his hat into the ring for the part of 007, he said: "If I was asked, yeah. Yeah - amazing."

Despite the eye-catching addition of Hollywood A-listers, including Moore, Channing Tatum, Berry and Bridges, Egerton said it was "great" to expand his role in the new film.

He joked: "I was furious about it. I thought I was running the show this time.

"No, I'm joking. It was amazing - I think we have five Oscar winners in this film, playing very wacky, psychedelic roles. Yeah, it was great."

Other stars at the premiere included Colin Firth and Mark Strong, who both reprised their roles for Matthew Vaughn's second instalment of the blockbuster action franchise.

Firth, whose character Harry Hart came back from the dead to appear alongside Egerton once more, said fans of the first two films could look forward to a third movie if inspiration allowed for it.

"Matthew included me in his thinking enough that I knew he could imagine three", he said.

"It wasn't quite as much as a master plan, but he said that if they worked he could imagine three."

He added: "He wouldn't do it unless he got inspired, you know, the news would have to descend."

Unlike his "furious" colleague, Firth insisted the British cohort had avoided rivalries with their American peers.

He said: "Oh no, we were far too star-struck.

"And also I think if you're going to do a sequel, they're very tricky things to do - the graveyard's littered with bad sequels generally."
