House prices in Wales rose solidly in August according to the latest Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) Residential Market Survey.

Buyer interest is also on the up, with further growth expected.

Welsh surveyors also remain positive about the prospects for the market over the next three months.

Instructions to sell increased last month but they aren't keeping up with the pace of new buyer enquiries.

  • 26% more surveyors said that prices rose in the past three months than those who said they fell.

  • The price expectation remains positive as does the sales expectation

  • New buyer enquiries went up according to an increase of 47% of Welsh surveyors

A spokesperson for RICS says although buyer confidence is improving supply continues to be outmatched by demand.
