A tweet sent by the Wales Air Ambulance service in response to their involvement at Pride Cymru has helped to raise donations to continue their work saving lives around the country.

During the weekend, which was organised in support of the LGBT community, Wales Air Ambulance decorated their aircraft with rainbow stickers and took part in the Pride Cymru parade through Cardiff City centre.

The charity had a volunteer dressed up as the charity's mascot, Ellicopter, to take part in the march through the capital.

Businesses, charities and organisations, including ITV Wales, also turned out for the parade with 7,000 others.

After sharing a photo of Elliecopter with the South Wales Police’s mascot, the Welsh helicopter charity received a series of tweets from one user regarding its presence at the festival.

The response - reinforcing its values of equality and diversity - was quickly picked up by others on social media, receiving thousands of likes and retweets.

The charity now reports they have received £200 in donations from members of the public.
