95% of people with Hepatitis C can be completely cured according to researchers
It is estimated that there are 12,000 people in Wales living with Hepatitis C, yet 95% of people treated can be completely cured of the virus. That's according to researchers at the University Hospital of Wales.
Cardiff and Vale UHB will be launching its new campaign to encourage people attend their local testing centre. The campaign aims to raise awareness of the ease of testing and treatment. Researchers hope this will break down the stigma associated with the virus.
If people are then diagnosed with Hepatitis C they are then able to receive treatment which in the majority of cases can cure the virus.
A new Cardiff Hepatitis Support Network where people can access support and advice from others who have experienced the virus will also be launched.
