Council report identified Splott church had 'high risk of complete collapse' in 2016

A report by Cardiff Council from June 2016 identified the Splott church that collapsed on Tuesday had a 'high risk' of doing so.

A man was found dead on Tuesday after being trapped under a 'large amount of rubble' following the collapse of the building.

The report, carried out by property consultancy firm Bruton Knowles on behalf of Network Rail, concluded that there was 'a high risk of complete collapse, potentially towards the railway line.'

It was also identified that the existing support structures were 'inadequate.'

The building was deemed to be a dangerous structures and the report advised that 'appropriate action to be taken by the building owner to remove the danger.'
