Newport City Homes says its priority is reassuring residents

Cladding on three tower blocks in Newport have failed fire safety checks, Newport City Homes has confirmed.

The housing association says it is disappointed with the results, but its focus was on ensuring residents feel safe and are reassured.

Newport City Homes owns three blocks in the city - Milton Court in Ringland, Greenwood in St Julians and Hillview in Gaer. It says that each of the blocks has a number of fire safety measures, including smoke/fire alarms, fire doors, fire breaks between every floor, fire retardant paint and emergency lighting.

Leaflets have been delivered to all Newport City Homes residents in each block explaining what the tests involved.

South Wales Fire Service says it is working with Newport City Homes to ensure residents are safe.

Yesterday, Communities Secretary Carl Sargeant updated Assembly Members on the ongoing tests of cladding, after four blocks in Swansea failed tests.
