Cladding at Swansea tower blocks fail fire safety checks
Swansea council has confirmed that aluminium cladding from four of its residential tower blocks have failed new fire safety checks.
Following the Grenfell tower tragedy the Council has reassured tenants of Clyne Court in Sketty and Jeffreys Court in Penlan that extra safety measures have been taken.
They say that despite the outcome of the tests, there is no increased risk to tenants.
It says it's seeking urgent clarification from the Welsh Government as to the nature of the tests and will consult with them on the issue of what to do about the materials that have failed tests.
The Welsh Government have responded saying they were not involved in the testing process but remain in contact with the UK Government.
The council say that Swansea's seven other high-rise blocks do not use aluminium composite materials in its cladding so have therefore not been subject to current tests.
More than 140 buildings in England have already failed tests.
